Siemens and P&G expand AI quality inspection worldwide
A wider rollout brings real-time visual inspection and edge computing to high-speed consumer goods production.

The announcement
Siemens announced that Procter & Gamble is expanding an AI-based inspection system across its manufacturing operations worldwide. The system combines P&G’s deep learning models with Siemens’ Industrial Edge platform to inspect products during production.
From inspection to action
According to the announcement, processing takes place close to the equipment. Inspection results can trigger alerts or reject defective products, while accumulated quality data supports the review of production trends.
A practical consideration for manufacturers
For a plant considering vision inspection, start with the defect to detect and the operating conditions: lighting, material variation, line speed and the action required after a failed check. A well-defined acceptance test helps establish whether a pilot is useful before scaling it.
